In the new version of the infotainment system MBUX you can play the game Mario Kart. At the same time, you can press on the pedals, turn the wheel, and air will blow from the ventilation holes.
Computer racing is great. I am sure that each of us spent, and someone can and still spends a large number of hours for all sorts of virtual racing simulators – from the most realistic to games with arcade graphics and surrealistic physics.
As you may have guessed, this is a Mario Kart game, which is very popular in the Nintendo universe.
You can imagine how excited we were when we discovered that the German brand Mercedes-Benz presented the opportunity to play Mario Kart while driving the new CLA sedan.
During the World Mobile Phone Congress 2019, held in Barcelona from February 25 to February 28, the German automaker demonstrated the updated CLA at its booth. It was there that the latest improvements regarding the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system were presented, including a number of new applications. Visitors to the exhibition could play Mario Kart on the central screen of the car.
Actually, this is SuperTuxKart, the open source version of Mario Kart. This is a cross-platform system running on Linux, macOS, Windows and Android systems and, apparently, in the latest generation Mercedes infotainment system.
Interestingly, you can play not only the wheel and pedals. For example, air vents blow through the air, and the air flow depends on the speed of the car in the game. In addition, the interior LED interior light switches from red to green at the start of the race. Finally, when the race starts, the seat belt tightens.
