On the basis of the electric pickup Rivian R1T made a touring carMay 25, 2019
As the engineers who worked on the tourist vehicle assure, its massive battery provides power to the truck and the built-in electric stove. Novelty debuts at Overland Expo.
Overland Expo West is taking place right now in Arizona (USA). The American manufacturer of all-electric models – the company Rivian, takes part in this event – there is presented a touring car based on the R1T pickup. Being an exhibition where off-road conquest vehicles are shown, Rivian decided to thoroughly upgrade its upcoming truck for these very purposes. The Rivian guys received an award for the first electric car to be presented at the 10-year event for the first time.
Compared to other cars presented at this exhibition, the Rivian car for camping is quite conservative, but with the necessary functionality it is a full-service SUV for a camping holiday on the weekend.
A hanging tent with a ladder provides cozy sleeping places for two on the ground, and a roof rack provides extra space for equipment. However, a distinctive feature of the truck is its retractable kitchen with a place to store food and an electric stove. The plate is built into the truck’s gearbox in the front of the bed right behind the cab, and since the Rivian R1T is a fully electric vehicle, the plate receives energy from a sufficient number of built-in batteries.
According to representatives of the company Rivian, the truck is equipped with the world’s largest car battery with a capacity of 180 kWh. Thus, the week of cooking and lighting of the campsite will “eat” only 11% of the battery charge.
