On tests noticed a strange truck BMW 3 Series generation E46May 18, 2020
Journalists captured the unusual prototype BMW 3 Series generation E46 in the back … pickup. The car was tested on the Nurburgring race track.
BMW sold its compact 3 Series family of the E46 generation in several body styles, but there was never a pickup among them. It was possible to purchase a sedan, station wagon, coupe and convertible. The fifth representative of the family of that time was the three-door Compact performance unloved by many.
Apparently, none of these body types was good enough for the owner of this car.
The owner of this version of the 3 Series wanted something more practical. This E46 was spotted by reporters from a foreign edition of Auto Addiction during a rainy day at the Nurburgring racetrack. The unusual shape of the pickup body and its four-circuit exhaust pipes are clearly visible in the photo. Details about the history of this vehicle are hidden, but the one who built it decided to completely remove the rear seats.
We would be interested to know more about this peculiar BMW, as it seems that a lot of effort was put into creating it. It seems that the car began its life as a coupe before going through a series of modifications, for example, making a cutout on the rear panel behind the seats to make a window at this place. We get the feeling that the back door really opens to provide better access to the small cargo platform and load tall objects there.
