Prototype of a new BMW 4 Series Convertible (G22) appeared on testsJune 24, 2019
Journalists shared with us a party of “spy” photos from tests of a prototype Bavarian novelty. The long-awaited novelty is likely to show us in the second half of 2020.
The next generation BMW 4 series cabriolet will now be offered only with a fabric roof, instead of a stiff one, thus reducing the overall weight. Refusal of metal for a soft top will also increase practicality, since the load capacity should increase significantly, because the new roof will take up much less space when folded in the rear.
Fully disguised inside and outside the prototype, belonging to a new generation (index G22), seems to have serial headlights, but not ready to manufacture taillights.
As you would expect from a four-seater convertible of this size, there will not be much space for rear passengers, but adults are well suited for short trips.
We can not make out any details in the cabin of the novelty, as there is an annoying piece of cloth on the dashboard that hides everything that we want to see.
Spoiler tailgate, as well as double round exhaust tips said that we are dealing with a version of the 330i. There is a high probability that BMW will also introduce a powerful M340i, as well as a full-fledged high-performance version of the M4.
When should we expect an updated 4-series convertible based on the CLAR platform? Well, logic tells us that the coupe will come out first. Most likely, the cabriolet will show us in the second half of 2020.
