On tests, a heavily camouflaged prototype of the new Ford truck was seenApril 29, 2020
The team of engineers of the American brand is testing a prototype of a new truck, which may be named Courier. The car will be similar in its appearance, as well as its engine range, to the revived Bronco Sport SUV.
According to reputable foreign publications, the new subcompact pickup from the American automaker will be very similar in appearance to the current mid-size Ford Ranger truck and Bronco Sport SUV. That is, the novelty will receive a “chiseled” exterior. Although the “spy” images show a strongly camouflaged prototype of the novelty, we can see how the front part can have a angular, straight look.
In addition, the new small pickup will receive the same power plant as the Bronco Sport SUV. To be precise, buyers will be able to choose between a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder analogue. An eight-speed automatic transmission will be offered as a transmission.
In January 2019, Ford confirmed its plans to create another truck, which will be the smallest in the automaker’s lineup.
The company intends to establish mass production of new items at its factory in Mexico, and then export it to the markets of the USA and South America. According to insiders, Brazil will receive this small pickup first, and it will happen in 2021.
The official name for the pickup remains a mystery. Now the brand management is considering two possible names – Courier and Ranchero. So called the old pickups of the company.
