Norbert Michelis won the first WTCR race at the NurburgringJune 22, 2019
Norbert Michelis won his first victory in the season 2019 in the Friday race at the “Northern Loop” of the Nurburgring, starting the second.
Hungarian responded to the starting lights of the traffic light better than the winner of the qualification Esteban Gerrieri, entered the first turn of the leader and confidently brought the race to victory with a margin of 1.7 seconds over the Argentinian.
The main struggle unfolded behind the leaders. The winner of the hot showdown for third place with the participation of Frederick Vervish, Nestor Girolami and Rob Huff went compatriot Gerriri driving a Honda Civic, who made him a company on the podium.
Huff finished immediately behind, but by the end of the last lap Vervish was three seconds behind him, but he was able to keep a tight group of seven pilots.
Ivan Muller dropped out of the fight already in the first bunch of turns as a result of contact with Rob Huff and damage to the suspension on his Lynk & Co 03 TCR. Gabriele Tarquini turned into the pits on the second lap due to faulty steering.
The second and third WTCR races on the Nordschleife will take place on Saturday morning, before the start of the 24-hour marathon. The start of the second race is scheduled for 12:00 Moscow time.
