Nissan will close production of the diesel version of the minivan NV200February 4, 2019
Nissan announced the discontinuation of the production of the diesel version of the NV200 minivan for the European market by the end of this summer. Thus, soon in Europe it will be possible to officially purchase only the electric version of this model Nissan e-NV200.
The diesel minivan for the local market was assembled in Barcelona (Spain), however, the assembly lines of this model are also present in Mexico, Japan, China, India and Indonesia. In addition to the designation Nissan NV200, this minivan is also known as Chevrolet City Express, Nissan Evalia, Mitsubishi Delica, etc.
As you know, in connection with the “dieselgate” demand in Europe for cars with engines of this type has fallen. In turn, the recent release of the updated version of the Nissan e-NV200 with a 40 kWh battery instead of 24 kWh, on the contrary, boosted sales of the electric version of the minivan. Given the release of a related model, the Nissan LEAF e +, the appearance of a minivan version with a 62 kWh battery is also possible.
Note that in the middle of this year in France should start production of the new model Nissan NV250, which is the twin of Renault Kangoo. Well, since the latter is also available in the electric version (Kangoo Z.E.), it is quite likely that the novelty will be produced in the format of an electric car.
Recall that the electric Nissan e-NV200 is equipped with an 80 kW electric motor and a 40 kWh battery, which provides a power reserve of about 200 km over the WLTP measuring cycle.
