Nissan unveiled MaximaOctober 23, 2018
Current version sedan Nissan Maxima, eighth generation, debuted in 2015. The model is built on the platform D, which also underlies the previous Nissan Altima / Teana. Last year, the Maxima, which was slightly refreshed, was presented in the States – the “four-door” did not change either outside or inside; the company limited itself to expanding the list of equipment and the body color palette. The current update has affected the design of the machine.
Nissan has so far published only one image of the Maxima 2019 model year. Judging by the picture, the sedan got another front bumper and foglights, and the chrome-plated V-shaped insert on the grille has become larger. Headlights have the same shape, but their “filling” is different.
The manufacturer also announced that the Maxima-2019 will offer Nissan Safety Shield 360 with a set of assistants, in particular, it includes monitoring systems for “blind” zones, warnings about leaving the occupied lane, warnings about moving perpendicular to the vehicle when reversing and reversing automatic braking when reversing. By the way, in the release of Nissan there is not a word about the complex semi-autonomous driving system ProPilot (adaptive cruise control with the ability to drive through winding sections within one lane; controls the steering wheel, accelerator and brakes). It is strange that the flagship model “autopilot” is missing, although in the arsenal of a cheaper sedan Nissan Altima new generation, it is listed.
On the engine of the updated Maxima in Nissan also silent. Probably, in the States, the four-door restyled will be available with the same petrol “aspirated” V6 3.5 (factory VQ35DE index) with a power of 300 hp, which is paired with the X-Tronic. Drive – only front. Note, the new Altima has a four-wheel drive version.
All the details about the upgraded Maxima sedan will appear next month – the model will be presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which will open its doors to visitors on November 30th. In December, the updated sedan will get to American dealers.
The pre-reform Nissan Maxima in the United States costs from $ 33,270 (excluding tax and delivery). Sales of the sedan are falling: in January-September 2018, 31,702 of these cars were sold in the United States, which is 36% less compared to the same period last year. The same Altima (from $ 23,750) in the first nine months of 2018 sold 166,599 copies (-17%) in this country, and this is a model of the previous generation – the new sedan went to dealerships centers only in October.
By the way, rivals Maxims in the Nissan consider premium BMW 3 Series (from $ 34,900) and Acura TLX (from $ 33,000). Things are not going very well with rivals. For example, in January-September, 34,731 Bavarian-brand cars (including a station wagon) and 22,917 Acura were sold in the USA – this is 20% and 13% less than a year earlier.
