Nissan revealed the design of the new generation TeanaMarch 8, 2018
The Japanese brand distributed a design sketch of the Altima sedan of a new generation designed for the US market. In other countries the model is known as Teana.
The world premiere of the new Altima will take place at the end of March at the New York Auto Show. As expected, the exterior of the model is based on the concept of Nissan Vmotion 2.0, which debuted in January last year.
Technical characteristics of the novelty are kept secret. By the way, the brand also did not provide information on the prototype’s power plant. In the States, the current “four-door” is offered with a petrol four-cylinder 2.5 (179 hp) and a V6 3.5 (270 hp), both equipped with a variator.
Most likely, Altima of the new generation will be larger than its predecessor. Dimensions of the American version of the current generation sedan: length – 4,874 mm, width – 1,829 mm, height – 1,468 mm, wheelbase – 2,776 mm.
The prototype Vmotion 2.0 was equipped with a complex of semi-autonomous driving systems ProPilot. This “set” is already in the last electric car Leaf, minivan Serena and crossover Qashqai, so that the sedan Altima, he probably will. ProPilot – is, in fact, adaptive cruise control with the ability to ride on winding areas within the same band.
The main competitors of the Nissan sedan are Toyota Camry and Honda Accord: these “Japanese” have replaced generations last year, both sedans have hybrid versions. While Altima significantly lags behind rivals. So, according to Focus2Move, in 2017, Toyota sold in the States more than 387,000 Camry cars, Honda – more than 322,000 chords. The Nissan model, however, sold approximately 254,000 copies.
