Nissan Qashqai got a new turbo engineOctober 1, 2018
In Europe, sales of the Nissan Qashqai crossover began with the new 1.3 DIG-T turbo engine. The unit was developed in conjunction with the company Mercedes-Benz.
The choice of customers Qashqai offered two options with different levels of force: a capacity of 140 or 160 horsepower. The first will be equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox only, and the second with a seven-speed robotized transmission as well. The younger version has a peak torque of 240 Nm, the older one – 260 Nm in the version with manual gearbox and 270 Nm with a robotized transmission.
The Qashqai crossover with the 1.3 turbo engine will be the first Nissan to be equipped with a seven-speed robotized transmission with two clutches. Until now, all the two-pedal Nissans with a transverse motor assembly were completed with a CVT.
The new engine will completely replace the current 1.2 engines with a capacity of 115 forces and 1.6 with a capacity of 163 forces from the model range. But the 130-horsepower diesel 1.6 will remain.
Sales of new cars with manual gearbox have already begun, and Europeans will be able to order the version with the robotized transmission only from November.
The new 1.3 turbo engine was developed by the Renault-Nissan alliance together with the concern Daimler. These engines are placed on Renault Scenic micro-vans, Renault Kadjar and Qashqai crossovers, as well as compact A-class Mercedes models. Renault-Nissan produces its version of the engine at the plant in Spain Valladolid, Mercedes – in the German city of Kölleda.
