At the final of the Champions League in Kiev, Nissan introduced a robotic device capable of drawing markup on football fields for 5, 7 or 11 players

The company Nissan has presented a special unmanned vehicle for marking on a football field. The device was presented in Kiev during the UEFA Champions League final, in which Real Madrid and Liverpool played.

The Nissan Pitch-R robot is equipped with a circular vision system based on four cameras, a satellite GPS system, and a collision avoidance function with other objects. Pitch-R is able to draw markup on football fields for 5, 7 or 11 players.

The whole process takes no more than 20 minutes. The machine applies a soluble paint, which is completely harmless to the environment. Nissan Pitch-R can draw lines on ordinary grass, on asphalt, and on gravel.

According to the developers, the release of the robot in many ways became possible thanks to the system of semi-automatic control ProPilot, the updated version of which debuted on the electric second-generation Leaf.

It is based on a laser scanner that determines the exact distance to other objects, and a system of circular view. Electronics is able to independently hold the car in the occupied band, as well as monitor the necessary acceleration and deceleration.
