Nissan made a fashionable crossover Kicks based on the DusterOctober 18, 2018
Nissan Kicks SUV debuted on the B0 platform In India
Indian division of Nissan presented its version of the compact SUV Kicks. Externally, he repeats the same model for the United States, Latin America and China, but he has a different technical stuffing – from the Renault Duster crossover.
A small crossover Nissan Kicks in the form of a concept car was introduced in 2014 at the Sao Paulo Motor Show, and two years later, with minimal changes, it was launched into production at the Nissan plant in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Now front-wheel drive crossover produce enterprises in Mexico, Brazil, China and Malaysia. The car, created on the V platform from the Nissan Micra hatchback, is sold in the USA, Canada, Latin America, and many Asian countries. Although Kicks is only slightly inferior in size to the Qashqai, it is noticeably poorer equipped, and in a number of markets replaced the Juke compact crossover.
The machine for the Indian market borrowed from the “global” Kicks exterior and part of the power structure of the body. All this crossed with the platform B0, on which the crossover Renault Duster is built.
At the same time, the Nissan Kicks for the Indian market has become a bit larger than its prototype: the wheelbase has increased to 2673 millimeters (+63 mm), the total length is up to 4384 millimeters (+89 mm). In addition, this Kicks is 66 millimeters (1656 millimeters) taller than its Latin American namesake.
Other details about the car yet. Indian autojournalists suggest that powertrains will be borrowed from the Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster and Captur platform crossovers, which are already being produced in India. The model will receive a 110 horsepower diesel engine and a 106-horsepower gasoline engine, both with a 1.5-liter capacity.
At first, Kicks will only be equipped with manual transmissions (six-speed diesel and five-speed with a gasoline engine). But later there will be a choice: with a petrol engine it will be possible to get a continuously variable CVT, and with a diesel engine – an “automatic”.
Transferring the Kicks model for the Indian market to the B0 platform looks justified from a technological point of view. As in Russia, a number of models are produced on this platform – Renault Duster, Renault Captur and Nissan Terrano crossovers and Renault Lodgy compact cars.
Transferring the popular model to the B0 platform is an already proven concept for the Renault-Nissan alliance. Thus, the Renault Captur crossover was created for the Russian market – the exterior of the European Renault Captur was connected to proven Duster equipment. Now the production of such machines is adjusted outside the Russian Federation – in Brazil and India.
