Nissan launches a subscription service. Every day you can order a new model.February 20, 2020
The Japanese company announced that just yesterday the service for subscribing to Nissan cars was launched. Now it is available only in Texas (USA), and there are some “pitfalls”.
The service for subscribing to their cars was launched by the Japanese automaker. The new offer is called the Nissan Switch, and it’s not exactly the same as the services we saw with other automakers such as Volvo. However, the new service has some nuances.
Right now, the Nissan Switch service is being tested exclusively in one US city. As is the case with similar services from other automakers, Nissan combines everything that a driver may need into a single monthly payment. This includes insurance, maintenance, roadside assistance, transporting vehicles to your location, and even cleaning the car. The differences between the Nissan Switch service and the Japanese brand are that subscribers are not limited to one vehicle when concluding a contract. You can drive an Nissan Leaf electric car for a week and use it for daily commuting, and then grab a larger Pathfinder crossover.
It is possible to order sports cars 370Z and GT-R as a rental car. In total, 11 vehicles are offered in two subscription categories, and you can change cars every day if you really want to.
So what’s the catch? The point is the price, the initial Select level costs $ 699. In this case, Altima, Pathfinder, Rogue and Frontier models will be available to subscribers of the service. The premium level adds Leaf Plus, Maxima, Murano, Titan, Armada and the 370Z sports coupe to the list, but the monthly fee rises to $ 899. And if you want to drive a GT-R supercar, you will have to pay an extra $ 100. In addition, Nissan charges a $ 495 membership activation fee, regardless of the chosen subscription level.
