Nissan is getting ready to release the successor to the Nissan 370ZApril 14, 2020
The novelty will be called the 400Z and the Twin-Turbo V6 engine.
Over the next 12 months, the Japanese company will present to the world public the successor of the Nissan 370Z, which will be called the 400Z, and under its hood will be a twin-turbocharged V6 with higher performance.
Note that the 370Z went on sale in 2099 and has not changed much since then, although rumors about updating the model have been around for a long time. Nissan recently applied for a trademark registration in Canada for a redesigned Z badge. It uses a retro font that goes back to the original Z car, the Datsun 240Z, and then the 260Z and 280Z.
However, the badge will not be the only 400Z element created to evoke memories of previous Nissan sports cars. Some dealership managers in the United States – the largest car market – were familiar with the new design, and they note that the new sports car will be made in the style of 240Z and 300ZX.
Significant improvements will also be made in the interior of the 400Z. The quality of the material will correspond to the latest Nissan models in the US market, and the outdated touch screen will be replaced by a modern infotainment system with connected services. A digital dashboard may also be offered, and advanced driver assistance technology will be introduced.
The novelty can be based on the rear-wheel drive platform Q50 and Q60 of the related Infiniti brand in order to reduce additional costs. In addition, the 400Z will use a transmission from Infiniti.
The new sports car is designed to use the flagship Q60 with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6. This all-aluminum engine is part of the VR family, which also includes the larger 3.8-liter unit used by the Nissan GT-R. 400 hp in the Q60, the 3.0-liter V6 delivers four-seater coupe acceleration to hundreds in 5.0 seconds.
Although it is expected that the 400Z will be rear-wheel drive, its performance should be better than this, given that it will be significantly lighter than the Infiniti with a weight of 1,825 kg.
