Nissan is considering the “charged” NavaraFebruary 23, 2018
Earlier this month, Ford introduced a charged version of its pickup pick-up – new Ford Ranger Raptor. This move by the American brand forced many manufacturers to consider the possibility of releasing a similar model oriented to extreme off-road driving. One such company was Nissan, whose representative in an interview with Motoring reported that the competitor Ranger can be prepared on the basis of Navara.
The head of the division of light commercial vehicles Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Ashwani Gupta told the publication that he will meet with the leadership of the Australian unit at the launch of D23 Navara and he is open to the idea of a hardcore version of the pickup truck.
“If you asked me this question yesterday (about the rival Ranger Raptor), I would say that this is not in our priority plans,” Gupta said in an interview. “But if you ask me this again today, I will say that we would like to study this opportunity.”
Recall, the Ranger Raptor two-liter turbodiesel with a return of 213 hp. and 500 Nm of torque, Fox springs, large off-road wheels and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The most powerful Navara is equipped with an 188-horsepower 2.3-liter engine, but it could borrow from the Mercedes-Benz X-Class three-liter V6.
