Nissan Frontier 2021 will be a lot like the Mercedes X-ClassJuly 22, 2020
The updated version of the Japanese Nissan Frontier pickup will receive some body and chassis elements from the more luxurious Mercedes X-Class truck.
It’s no secret that the luxurious German Mercedes X-Class pickup truck was built on a modified chassis of the Japanese Nissan Frontier (aka Navara) truck. This year, Mercedes decided to discontinue production of the X-Class. Now it is reported that some components and assemblies of the X-Class can be used in the Nissan Frontier 2021 model year.
According Autoblog.com, Mercedes has made several modifications to the Frontier chassis for its X-class pickup, and it looks like Nissan’s truck will receive those changes. This includes structural reinforcements that the German automaker has made to improve the strength of the truck’s chassis and improve driving dynamics. The new 2021 Frontier will have the same chassis crossbars as the German X-class.
The introduction of a completely new generation of pickup trucks is out of the question.
In May, Nissan announced a restructuring plan that includes the launch of 12 new models over the next 18 months. The company was counting on reducing costs and increasing profits. The updated Frontier is also part of that strategy, but even Nissan said some parts of the current truck will be present in the updated version of the model. In particular, we are talking about the 3.8-liter V6 with 31 hp. and a nine-speed gearbox.
Specific details about the new pickup, other than what Nissan has already said, remain unclear. Rumors suggest that the V6 could be the only engine available that would have significantly increased the price of the truck’s initial configuration. However, we expect the all-new design, both inside and out, to help the pickup compete in a growing segment featuring popular models such as the Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger and Chevy Colorado. Nissan released a short teaser for the truck in May. The teaser hints at a completely new design.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that the official debut of the Nissan Magnite Concept took place. The Nissan Magnite Concept debuted in India on Thursday, July 16, and the production version of the Japanese company’s smallest crossover, which will receive some changes, will be shown by the end of this year.
