Nissan 400Z Nismo sports coupe render presentedSeptember 17, 2020
Created by fans of the Nissan Z Series sporting family, this render shows what the all-new Z Proto could look like with the exterior styling cues of the Nissan GT-R supercar.
Independent artist Kleber Silva presented his vision of what the new Z Series sports family could be in an even more powerful version of the Nismo. As you can see, the virtual novelty has received some design elements from the current GT-R Nismo. The four thick-tipped tailpipes are borrowed directly from the R35, as is this prominent rear wing. Those carbon fiber details you see on the front, side and rear skirts were also borrowed from the aging model, and they fit pretty well for Nissan’s smaller sports car.
While this is a good what-if rendering, the design of the new Z Nismo remains a mystery at this point.
In fact, we don’t even technically have a clear idea of what the regular version of the new 370Z will look like. Nissan stated that “the Z Proto is a development vehicle that does not endorse or reflect production model specifications.” Most likely, its appearance is close to real, but some details of the road car’s construction will be changed in the production version.
The faster version of Nismo has already been indirectly confirmed by the company. According to Z Proto, Nissan Z, GT-R and Nismo product specialist Hiroshi Tamura, “some appropriate version of the novelty” is in the works.
Tamura also said that while the focus is on the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6, a hybrid performance is possible. He explained that it all depends on whether customers want an electrified new member of the Z Series sports family or not.
We know the engine is rated at 400 horsepower and 475 Nm, and it will be interesting to see if that power is available in the 400Z.
