JD Power has released China New Energy Vehicle Experience Research SM 2020 (NEVXI), which shows that as the market for renewable energy vehicles accelerates, the quality gap between brands is gradually widening.

E-cars of famous brands and new vehicles occupy a leading position in the sales of electrified vehicles. At the same time, analysts note that the quality of new cars needs to be improved. For the second year this year, JD Power is publishing the NEVXI Report, which quantifies and measures the quality issues faced by owners of renewable energy vehicles over a 2 to 6 month ownership period. The quality of new cars is expressed by the average number of problems per 100 cars (PP100). The fewer the number of problems, the better the quality.

The most common complaints among electric car owners are the car’s exterior (16%), the interior (13%), the infotainment system (13%) and the driving experience (13%). however, range and tire noise are among the top 20 issues in the industry. The number of quality problems for plug-in hybrid models (121 PP100) is higher than for pure electric models (22 PP100). At the same time, motorists like their appearance and multimedia systems more.

If we look at the brands, the Chinese joint venture SAIC Volkswagen (105 PP100) took first place in the quality of new cars in the plug-in hybrid market, while BMW (108 PP100) was only on the second line. Chinese NIO (109 PP100) took first place in the quality of new electric cars, and the famous Tesla (113 PP100) and Euler (129 PP100) took second and third places, respectively.
