Nio EC6 will receive an increased batteryDecember 31, 2019
The Nio electric mobile startup from China, which is going through hard times, presented its third model, the ES6 coupe-shaped crossover. On sale, the novelty should appear in September 2020.
Nio showed the public its new crossover EC6 in today’s popular coupe form. SUV resembles the related mid-size crossover ES6 with the difference that the new product has got a more “long-range” battery of 100 kW • h. With its help, the novelty can travel up to 615 kilometers on a NEDC cycle without recharging. A cheaper version with a battery of 70 kW • h and a maximum mileage of 435 kilometers will be available for purchase. The power plant varies from 435 to 544 hp. In the first case, Nio EC6 accelerates to “hundreds” in 5.6 seconds, in the second – 4.7 seconds.
There is no information on the cost of the electric cross-coupe yet. Experts suggest that the new product is unlikely to be cheaper than the ES6, for which they ask from 358,000 to 498,000 yuan in Chinese car dealerships.
The novelty boasts a second-level autopilot according to SAE classification with 23 sensors and support for updating “over the air”, as well as a panoramic transparent roof. The coupe-shaped EC6 will go on sale in July next year, and its delivery is scheduled for September.
Regarding the situation of Nio in the market, the company is now trying to improve its position, which has been shaken due to falling sales in China and a reduction in subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles. In the spring of 2019, Nio shares fell sharply, and by early October, the startup was on the verge of a crisis. To stay afloat, the company had to resort to a reduction and abandon plans to build another plant in Shanghai.
