Nikola introduced a brand new hydrogen truck modelNovember 6, 2018
For a long time we have not heard anything about a possible competitor Nikola, but now everything is changing. The company introduced a brand new truck using a hydrogen-electric power plant, as well as an autonomous piloting system.
The new Nikola Tre truck is officially presented for Europe. While the model is a concept, but the first prototypes may appear as early as 2020. The model is distinguished by a hydrogen-electric power unit, as well as the presence of autonomous systems.
The new truck will receive several complete sets with a variable power from 500 to 1,000 horsepower. Moreover, the manufacturer promises that the waterborne system will provide the truck with a range of from 500 to 1,200 kilometers. Since the truck is designed for the European market, the model will receive a limited size, as well as the length of the trailer. In addition, the company will offer a more classic design without the hood.
If all goes according to plan, then Tre will be on sale by 2022 or 2023. Moreover, Nikola Trevor Milton, General Director, also announced that he expects to complete his model with a fifth-level unmanned system. But this is not yet accurate.
Now we can look at the preliminary renderings from the company itself. In addition to producing Tre, Nicola plans to build more than 700 hydrogen filling stations throughout Canada and the United States by 2028.
