Nikola had to postpone the debut of the electric pickup BadgerOctober 3, 2020
The electric car from a promising and highly ambitious startup was supposed to debut at the Nikola World event in Arizona, but it became known last week that it will not take place due to restrictions on COVID-19.
The coronavirus has confused the plans of Nikola, which had to postpone the presentation of its Nikola Badger pickup truck. The startup does not name new dates. The first announcement of this electric pickup was made back in February 2019. Then the brand presented a series of intriguing teasers and shared some preliminary characteristics of the novelty.
Nikola Badger has a rather brutal appearance with an aggressive design. The pickup is going to be sold in two versions – hydrogen and electric. So, according to the developers, the electric pickup will receive a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 160 kWh. With it, Badger will travel about 482 kilometers without recharging. The range of the hydrogen version is much more – it was announced up to 966 kilometers.
This is not the only impressive figure for a pickup: the truck will allegedly produce 906 hp. and 1328 Nm of torque.
We will remind, at the beginning of last month Nikola and General Motors announced a partnership. The parties agreed that GM will design and build Badger, while Nikola will be responsible for sales and promotion. However, according to the latest information, this deal is still pending.
Meanwhile, sales of new Tesla cars set a record for the third quarter of this year. Compared to the previous year, the increase in sales was about 50%. This result was influenced by the expansion of the brand’s model range and the new geography of sales.
