Nico Hulkenberg: I am positiveSeptember 28, 2019
In addition to the incident of Daniel Riccardo at the end of the first session, after which Renault had to replace the rear wing and bottom on his car, the team was pleased with the results of training in Sochi. They mainly focused on working with rubber – on the narrow and technical last sector, the rear tires overheated, but the team adjusted the settings.
Nico Hulkenberg (8th): “Good Friday. I like the track, it has a smooth configuration, it’s great to race here again. All in all, a successful day. I immediately liked the behavior of the car, I felt confident. In the second half of the day I was not so pleased, we adjusted some things in the settings and we will think about how to improve the situation. But in general, everything went well, I am positive. ”
Daniel Riccardo (14th): “It all started well, but because of my incident at the end of the first training, we lost a little time in the second. The mechanics did a great job, quickly repaired the car.
We have a lot of work, but we are in a good situation – we need to deal only with a couple of points. I think I can add in several areas, so that we are capable of more. There is a high load on the rear tires on this track, we are trying to find the right balance. Nico showed a fairly high pace, so tomorrow we have a chance. “
Alan Permane, Sports Director: “Regular Friday. Apart from Daniel’s small departure in the morning session, everything went according to plan. We need to work a little with the balance – we have changed something, but something worked, but something did not. In the evening, you need to understand what can be improved by Saturday, but on the whole, everything suits us. ”
