Nico Hulkenberg explained the fall in Renault resultsAugust 22, 2019
Before the start of the season, Renault expected to reduce the gap with the three leading teams, but the reality turned out to be worse than expected – the team left for the summer break, occupying sixth place in the Design Cup, earning half the points than a year ago. Team racer Nico Hulkenberg explained what caused the decline in the results of the team from Enstone.
Nico Hulkenberg: “The current season is more difficult than last year for various reasons. At the beginning of the year, we had problems with reliability, in some races Daniel and I were wrong, which cost the team points.
It is worth considering the fact that the fight in the middle of the peloton is now denser – Alfa Romeo, Toro Rosso and McLaren are back in the fight. Now we have to compete with ten cars, whereas last year – with four, with a maximum of six.
We can say that we ourselves have made insufficient progress. If we talk about pace and speed, then the car does not meet our expectations. It is because of all these factors that we were in a difficult situation. ”
