Next year will be a new generation of Subaru OutbackFebruary 10, 2019
A new generation of Japanese all-terrain wagon Subaru Outback will debut somewhere this year – that’s what the official representative of the company Dominic Infant said. As before, the new product will be in many ways similar to the Legacy sedan.
Unfortunately, there are no details as to when exactly the long-awaited presentation will take place, but it seems to us that the April auto show in New York or the November auto show in Los Angeles seem to be the most likely places to show.
The Outback wagon always used the Subaru Legacy as its base. This makes it easy to draw conclusions about the new model thanks to the seventh-generation Japanese sedan debuting at the Chicago Auto Show.
Thus, we can conclude that the new Outback will receive a global Subaru platform, which will significantly increase its rigidity.
As in the current version of the model, the engine range should be as close as possible to that used for the Legacy sedan. The base engine is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder atmospheric turbocharged engine with a capacity of 182 horsepower. A 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder, 260-hp turbocharger will also be offered. Both power plants are connected to the variator and have all-wheel drive.
The Outback design should also match the new Legacy, but the wagon received increased ground clearance. The internal layout should be almost the same. Salon will receive a new 11.6-inch portrait-oriented screen infotainment system. The system of driver assistance EyeSight is now included as standard.
Subaru plans to begin selling the new Legacy sedan this fall. Outback wagon debut can be expected at the end of this year. It can be expected that the start of sales is scheduled for early 2020.
