This Japanese pickup truck has been waiting for a generational change for a long time: the Tundra that is being produced now traces its history back to 2006. So the need for a total upgrade of this monumental model is long overdue.

The large Toyota Tundra pickup in the American car market is considered one of the “oldest” in its segment – it has been produced for 14 years. Moreover, over all these years, its competitors managed to change two generations. For example, Ford F-150 and Ram 1500.

The design of the Japanese pickup truck has already become outdated, it is expensive, and it demonstrates less and less advantages over its competitors. That is why the Japanese decided to release the next generation pickup.

The new Toyota Tundra, according to preliminary information, will be presented in the middle of the next year. Such a car, as before, will receive rear and all-wheel drive – depending on the preferences of customers. But the transmission is expected to be one – automatic transmission. According to experts, Toyota is not planning to abandon the off-road TRD version.

The pickup, which has finally changed its generation, will be based on the new TNGA-F modular cargo platform. The same “cart” can be found on “frame off-road vehicles of the brand.

At the same time, the automaker is not going to abandon the well-proven scheme with a double-lever and a continuous bridge.
The engine lineup will change more radically. So, the new Tundra will no longer have V8 engines. The novelty is predicted to have a 3.5-liter engine V6 and a 3.4-liter “biturbo-six”, which the Lexus LS 500 sedan gets. This premium car has a motor that demonstrates 421 hp. It will not do without hybrid versions.

Meanwhile, a patent image of Toyota’s new hypercar has leaked onto the Web. This is a model called Toyota Canopy. The document contains a description of the design features of the mysterious hypercar. At the same time, there are still not enough details to compile a complete picture of the future newest car.
