The head of Tesla, Elon Musk, has repeatedly said that his company should become more than just a car manufacturer. The next step in this direction will be the new Tesla product – the platform for trading in electricity Autobidder.

Last year, Elon Musk announced that Tesla Energy, the energy division of the automaker, will become a global distributor of electricity. And over time, this business has every chance to outgrow transport production.

The idea is to increase the output of solar energy generation systems and energy storage systems, both for individual homeowners and enterprises. And manage these distributed networks like a giant power plant.

Just for the management of energy assets, Tesla is going to release the Autobidder platform, writes Electrek.

Apparently, the company has used Autobidder in its energy projects over the past few years, but only now talked about this product on its website: “Autobidder provides independent energy producers, utilities and shareholders the opportunity to autonomously monetize energy assets. Autobidder is a real-time trading and management platform that provides value-based asset management and portfolio optimization, allowing owners and operators to change operational strategies to maximize revenue according to business objectives and risk preferences. ”

This is what the Autobidder user interface looks like.

Tesla claims Autobidder already manages hundreds of megawatt hours of assets that provide gigawatt hours of network services around the world. Autobidder works on any scale: from home generation systems to industrial installations with a capacity of 100 MW. The company emphasizes that due to the seamless integration of hardware and software, Autobidder users will be able to receive income immediately after activating their project in the system.

Tesla actively uses machine learning for several key functions of Autobidder: price forecasting, load forecasting, production forecasting, network load optimization, smart trading in the system.

Autobidder is currently being used successfully in Australia to manage the Hornsdale Power Reserve energy storage station. It is also known that the new platform will be compatible not only with Tesla products, but also with any type of energy storage.

In early March, the first Tesla Energy megabattery appeared in Canada. Energy company Saint John Energy installed a Megapack battery at its substation. It will smooth out peaks in energy consumption and will save up to $ 200,000 a year.
