Next-generation liftback Skoda Octavia RS will appear in four years
Next generation Skoda Octavia RS will be a hybrid. The model will enter the market in 2021.
According to Autocar, with reference to the head of research and development at Skoda Christian Strube, the hybrid version is ideal for the “charged” Octavia. According to him, she would allow the owner to go to work every day on electric (within 70 kilometers), and on weekends, together with the internal combustion engine to give the full power of the power plant on the track.
The first hybrid Skoda will be Suberb. A version of the model with a rechargeable power plant will appear next year. As Shrube added, it will be “more or less” similar to that used on the Vision RS concept, which debuted at the Paris Motor Show.
This prototype is equipped with a 150-horsepower gasoline turbo 1.5, an electric motor with a capacity of 102 power, and a battery pack with a capacity of 13 kilowatt-hours. Such a power plant allows the Skoda Vision RS concept to gain a 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and drive about 70 kilometers without recharging.
Now the Skoda Octavia RS is offered with a 245-horsepower two-liter turbo engine that can be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or with a seven-speed robotized DSG with two clutches. 100 km/h machine is gaining in 6.6 seconds. Maximum speed is limited to 250 kilometers per hour.
