The company announced plans for next year.

The company Mercedes-Benz announced plans for 2019. The manufacturer intends to introduce a new generation of compact model CLA, its version with a body Shooting Brake, as well as a small crossover GLB. The power of the engine of the top versions of the CLA will exceed 400 hp.

With the release of the GLB crossover, the number of compact models will be increased to eight. In addition, the company’s immediate plans include a restyled version of the GLC crossover and GLC Coupe coupe-crossover, as well as the flagship crossover GLS, which will premiere in the coming days at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The exact dates when the premiere of both variants of the CLA model will take place are not yet known. But the Autocar edition suggests that the CLA sedan will be shown at the January CES Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and the CLA Shooting Brake wagon will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

There is no detailed information about the future novelty. But judging by the pictures of camouflaged prototypes, the new CLA will look noticeably sportier than the A-Class, on the basis of which it was created. The CLA will have a noticeably stronger tilting of the windshield, a characteristic curved roof line, a narrow glazing line, a door without window frames.

The design of the CLA model is a further development of the concept of “sensual purity” already tested in the new A-class, the concept of, and the concept sculpture of Aesthetics A.

By way of prototypes, you can understand that the new generation CLA serial will be slightly larger than its predecessor. The wheelbase will increase markedly, which will increase the space in the back row. The front panel and the MBUX information system will be virtually unchanged from the A-Class.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA and CLA Shooting Brake are built on the MFA2 platform with a transverse powertrain, which has already served as the basis for the A-class hatchback, A-class sedan, elongated sedan for the Chinese market, and the recently introduced B-class. Depending on the type of drive, front or full, the rear suspension can be made simple semi-dependent or multi-link.

With the advent of the GLB crossover, which will debut in the second half of 2019, the Mercedes-Benz compact lineup will reach eight models. A year later, in 2020, a replacement for the GLA crossover will be presented.

Mercedes-Benz CLA will be equipped with both gasoline and diesel engines of a wide power range. Two AMG versions with a two-liter M260 turbo engine of different boost will be provided at once: the CLA35 and CLA45, both of them with all-wheel drive.

And the power of the top version of the CLA45 will reach 405 horsepower. Like the A45 hatchback, these cars will receive an eight-speed robotic box with two clutches, and an all-wheel drive transmission with drift mode.
