Next-generation Range Rover Sport spotted during testsFebruary 7, 2020
A year ago, Land Rover introduced the Range Rover Sport HST with an electrified 3.0-liter engine with 394 horsepower. This was the latest car update to date, but the new Range Rover Sport is already under development, as can be seen from these spy images. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the new generation of SUV from the UK.
We can not tell with certainty whether a serial body is installed on this prototype, or is it just a fake that is based on the current model, but photo spies believe that this is the true appearance of the third-generation model. From what we can see at this moment, the RR Sport may be about to take an evolutionary approach to design, retaining most of its predecessor’s core features, but adding a little twist inspired by Velar.
In fact, we are very surprised to see a test car for the new Sport model, given the fact that we have not yet seen the regular Range Rover tests. We doubt that Land Rover will change its strategy and launch a productive version in front of its more luxurious cousin. According to preliminary data, in the spring of this year, Land Rover will release a slightly updated version of the current RR Sport and will give more electrified engines. This step should help the company keep the model fresh for at least another 12-18 months before the advent of the new Sport generation.
It is said that the new Range Rover will use a BMW V8 engine, but instead the Sport version will rely on hybrid six-cylinder engines. In other words, the RR Sport will pay particular attention to environmental performance, while the Range Rover will maintain its flagship status.
