New VW Golf presentation postponed until the end of 2019March 14, 2019
The new generation of the most popular hatchback in Europe will be held at the end of this year. The start of sales of the long-awaited novelty is postponed to the beginning of 2020.
Only this Monday, during a long annual media conference, representatives of Volkswagen confirmed their plans for the eighth generation Golf hatchback. The official presentation was to take place at the end of 2019. However, it seems that the guys are not all going according to plan. VW acknowledged that he had encountered some technical problems that relate to the model, but still did not voice them.
It was originally planned to present a new version of the model in September of this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Instead, VW will show the next iteration of the most popular hatchback in Europe at the IAA exhibition in Germany, to give the Golf VIII the “exclusivity it deserves.” It should happen at the end of this year.
With regard to market entry, there have also been made some adjustments. VW plans to start selling its new products early next year. In an interview with Automotive News Europe, Jürgen Stackmann, head of sales and marketing at VW, motivated this decision, saying that it would be a mistake to start selling a car for Christmas, since “no one pays attention to new products” at this time of year.
The lack of a new Golf at the Frankfurt Motor Show does not mean that VW has nothing to show – it is during this event that the serial version of the electric I.D. will be shown. It is reported that this will be the world presentation of the hatchback. It turns out that VW originally planned to present an electric hatchback a few weeks after the show of a brand new Golf.
