New VW Golf 2020 captured without camouflageJanuary 20, 2019
Volkswagen has almost completed work on tests of the 8th generation Golf, and thanks to one of the Instagram users under the nickname johannes.vag, we have the opportunity to evaluate the appearance of the new generation of the cult car with almost no camouflage.
Oddly enough, however, the new Golf was filmed in a parking lot near McDonalds. Despite the fact that this is a new generation of Golf, it remains absolutely recognizable, and Volkswagen traditionally retained the classic form of the model.
And yet, a number of changes to the exterior design were made – the headlights became sharper and more sporty, the grille found new look, the front and rear bumpers were updated, as well as the taillights, which also became a little sharper. In this case, the model still remained the most recognizable, even if you remove the VW nameplates.
Absolutely new Golf is built on an updated version of the current MQB Evo platform – the car has become lighter by 45 kilograms, and should have a longer wheelbase, which will give more space in the cabin and, possibly, increase the volume of the trunk. The interior should also be refreshed with a new infotainment system, new materials and, not excluded, a semi-autonomous driving system.
Under the hood, the VW Golf 2020, whose production starts in the summer of 2019, will have the usual 3- and 4-cylinder turbocharged engines in both petrol and diesel versions. A little later, soft or rechargeable hybrids should appear, as well as a new GTI with a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine with 300 horsepower.
