New Volkswagen Transporter T7 tested in tandem with its predecessorJuly 31, 2020
The German automaker continues to work on the next generation of its Volkswagen Transporter bus. Another test vehicle with minimal camouflage was spotted during road tests in the Austrian Alps.
Development of the new generation T7 Volkswagen Transporter is in full swing, as evidenced by the latest spy photos. This time, the novelty went to tests along with its predecessor, which can be bought in Europe.
The prototype has practically lost its protective camouflage: the remnants of the film are still preserved in the area of the headlights and taillights, hiding their true size and shape.
The photos show that the new Volkswagen Transporter T7 has taken additional test equipment on board this time. So, in the car interior we see a dummy, and on the wheel hubs – special sensors.
And if the appearance of the generation change minibus is still recognizable, then the technical filling will change dramatically. The novelty will move to a new version of the Volkswagen MQB architecture, which supports the installation of electrified powertrains. Gasoline and diesel engines, according to experts, will remain, as well as front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. The appearance of spy shots of the Transporter T7 with minimal disguise is a hint that the development of the car has entered the home stretch. At the same time, the debut of new items should not be expected earlier than the 2nd quarter of next year. Its sales can begin in the second half of 2021.
