The eighth generation of Volkswagen Golf is already at the final stage of road tests, where the model was photographed by photospies without camouflage. It is expected that the debut of the car will take place in the summer of this year, and then the start of sales is also expected. Mass production should start in June at the company’s German plant.
According to the representatives of the company, for 45 years of existence of the Golf model, this time it will undergo the most extensive processing. The model will be built on the basis of a new platform, will receive a revised concept of exterior design, and a completely redesigned interior. Investment in the development amounted to about 1.8 billion euros, and the start of production will require an investment of about 3 billion euros more.
A line of 1.5-liter petrol and diesel turbo engines with different power will be installed as a power unit under the hood. Of course, the company will introduce a hybrid modification. Together with all the engines, a robotized transmission will be installed, whether the “mechanics” will be presented is still unknown.
“Soft hybrid systems will play a major role in the next generation of Golf,” said Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diss.
