New Toyota GR Yaris spotted without camouflageDecember 13, 2019
The “charged” hatchback was spotted by photo spies while shooting commercials.
Toyota introduced GR Yaris back in September 2017, but only in Japan, where the supermini is called Vitz. The company does not lose time and soon the hatch will receive a hardcore version of GR, and its official presentation is scheduled for next month at the Tokyo Motor Show.
On the eve of the hardcore model was spotted without camouflage in the Australian outback during the filming of an advertising video. Unlike the regular Yaris, the GR modification will get a sportier three-door layout with a gently sloping roof, which gives it an exciting side profile.
Powerful brakes hiding behind large wheels and a wider grille in front, better cooling the engine, are also visible. Dual tailpipes with an exhaust system and a massive roof spoiler are visible behind. Inside, the manual gear lever and hand brake are noticeable.
Given that this is a prototype, the interior may vary, but the front seats are uniquely installed new, and the steering wheel also has a “GR” logo. Technical details are still kept secret. The Toyota GR Yaris is expected to be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine and four-wheel drive system.
