The debut of Model 3 has just left the assembly line for Gigafactory 3 in China, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has now announced that the next corporation venture, called Gigafactory 4, will be built in Berlin, Germany.
According to Musk, the new plant will be located next to the new Berlin airport. In addition, the Tesla engineering and design centers will be located in the German capital. It will produce batteries, powertrains for Tesla electric vehicles, Musk said on Twitter.
Musk has long been talking about building an enterprise in Europe and the fourth plant of his corporation will be the first here. So far, Gigafactory 3 is Tesla’s only and first fully operational enterprise outside the United States.
It is noted that the European factory Gigafactory will produce Model 3 and the future Model Y. Tesla’s production capacity for Gigafactory 3 in the PRC is 3,000 Model 3 machines per week. Most likely, a European enterprise will produce as much or even more.
