
New Subaru WRX STI gets 2.4 turbo opposite engine
July 24, 2020The updated Subaru WRX STI will get a supercharged 2.4-liter boxer engine. Its performance will be 406 hp. (500 Nm). This was reported by the portal Carscoops.
A motor of the same size is equipped with a large Ascent cross. For a sports sedan, it is boosted and modernized. In addition, other pistons, crankshaft and turbines are expected to appear. All of them will be prepared for heavy loads. The Subaru WRX STI is speculated to receive only a 6-speed automatic transmission.
A more budgetary Subaru WRX will be equipped with a simplified variation of the same power unit. And it will also override the performance of the currently used 272-horsepower engine. In addition to the manual transmission, they will also offer a variator transmission.
The latest generation of Subaru Impreza, on which the WRX STI is based, was shown in spring 2016 in New York. The “charged” version has so far been seen only in the form of the Viziv Performance prototype at the end of 2017. And the serial variation should appear only in 2022.
In addition, more recently, the Japanese company Subaru shared details about the new Levorg. It will be possible to order a station wagon of the second generation in the brand’s home market already in August this year. The model will be equipped with a 4-cylinder 200-horsepower 1.8-liter turbo engine.
