New Porsche Cayman GT4 RS spotted at the NurburgringSeptember 7, 2020
Enthusiasts were hoping for an “RS” version of the first generation Porsche Cayman GT4, but unfortunately it didn’t. However, it seems increasingly likely that the current generation 718 GT4 will indeed receive an RS variant.
On the eve of the new German sports car Porsche Cayman GT4 RS was spotted by photo spies during tests at the Nurburgring. The video with the novelty was published on the web. This is the first time we hear a track-oriented sports car in the video, and it looks and sounds like that.
This prototype differs significantly from the regular GT4 thanks to the addition of many new exterior details, including a bespoke NACA hood. The test car also features a custom bumper, center-lock wheels and oversized brakes.
Porsche also appears to have replaced the rear glass with air intakes to cool the engine. In addition, at the rear, we can see a towering fender with swan-neck struts, which are similar in design to the wings of the latest GT3 RS prototypes.
The Cayman GT4 RS will be powered by an upgraded version of the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine found in the current Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder. In its current form, this engine has an output of 414 hp. and 420 Nm of torque, but Porsche will obviously increase those figures for the RS version.
While nothing is officially known yet, we wouldn’t be surprised if the GT4 RS hovers around the 450bhp mark, giving the sports car a decent boost in performance over the GT4.
