New Porsche 911 got aerodynamic improvementsFebruary 18, 2020
Specialists from the German automaker prepared two new styling packages for the latest generation of the 911 sports car with an index of 992: the SportDesign sports and Aerokit aerodynamic based on it.
The sports package consists of a characteristic “apron” with a spoiler, another rear bumper, where the license plate is located a little higher, to accommodate a new air intake and exhaust pipes. As an option, side skirts are offered that visually make the car lower.
In turn, the aerokit aerodynamic package was developed based on SportDesign. It includes a distinctive front spoiler and a fixed rear wing.
The development of a new aerodynamic package was carried out in the center of Porsche. It took specialists a couple of months to combine design and functionality. The concepts were tested in a wind tunnel, for the sake of the conviction of the company that Aerokit not only gives visual appeal, but also performs its immediate functions.
All elements of the body kit were tested in different weather conditions – testing machines covered more than 90,000 km. In addition, Aerokit was additionally run on the Nardo racetrack – in total, conceptual models drove along the 55,000 km track.
Both sets are offered both in the shade of the car body, and with glossy black elements. They are already available for order, in particular for the Porsche 911 Carrera. The cost of the aerodynamic package is 6910 dollars, sports – 1290 dollars.
