New Porsche 718 Cayman GTS spotted on trialsJanuary 4, 2020
Porsche demonstrated the 718 Boxster and Cayman GTS more than 2 years ago and it seems that the German brand is working on upgrading models with a new 6-cylinder engine.
This concept, which was recently launched on road trials in cold weather, looks like a pretty typical 718 Cayman GTS. However, the rear prototype resembles the 718 Cayman GT4. At the same time, it does not have a fixed rear wing and has a less extreme diffuser.
Although there is currently no official information regarding the new product, it is expected that the updated Cayman GTS will receive the same 4.0-liter 6-cylinder engine as the Cayman GT4. In the latest model, the power unit produces 414 hp. and 420 Nm of torque.
As noted, the motor will be specifically tuned for use on the GTS. The exact performance remains a mystery, however, according to sources, the car will acquire a capacity of 395 hp. and 420 Nm of torque.
Like the current GTS, the model will be offered with manual transmission and a “robot” PDK. With the latest transmission, the novelty will accelerate to 100 km / h in 4.1 seconds. However, it remains unknown whether the top speed will increase from the current 180 mph (290 km / h).
Interestingly, there is a chance that Porsche may retain the current GTS even after the release of the new model. If this happens, the high-performance version will be known as GTS 4.0. Of course, these are just assumptions and the state of the market may affect the company’s plans in the future.
