New Nissan Maxima: the interest of buyers trying to regain restylingNovember 29, 2018
In Los Angeles, presented a refreshed Nissan Maxima. The model has changed the design of the exterior, but neither all-wheel drive, nor new engines appeared.
The eighth generation Nissan Maxima sedan debuted in 2015. The four-door is built on the front-wheel-drive platform D, on which the former Nissan Altima / Teana is also based. In the States, Maxim is assigned the role of a flagship – this is the most expensive passenger model of the brand. Moreover, in the company, the four-door competitors consider the premium BMW 3 Series and Acura TLX. By the way, in the USA all three models are in the “minus”, and the biggest is in Nissan: 34,207 Maxima cars (-39%) were sold in January-October this year, TLX for the same period gained 25,180 owners (-14 %), BMW 3 Series sold in 38 176 copies (including the station wagon, -20%). BMW is preparing to bring to the market the 3 Series of the new generation, and Nissan, like Acura, cost restyling.
The update came out modest: Maxima got another grille with an enlarged chrome-plated V-shaped insert, other headlights and retouched bumpers, the “stuffing” was changed from the rear lights. In addition, instead of two round nozzles of the exhaust system, four rectangular nozzles were installed in the back. Also expanded the palette of body colors of the model, appeared 19-inch wheels of the new design.
The interior is the same, only new trim materials have been added, plus in expensive versions of the chair can now be covered with semi-aniline leather. Like the restyled Murano crossover, which was also shown in Los Angeles, the expensive bundles of the Maxima-2019 have the Nissan Safety Shield 360 safety system (monitoring systems for blind spots, automatic braking, warning about leaving the occupied lane, automatic switching of headlights) .
It is curious that the flagship did not get the ProPilot complex semi-autonomous driving system (adaptive cruise control with the ability to drive through winding sections within one lane; controls the steering wheel, accelerator and brakes), although the more affordable four-door Nissan Altima has such a set.
The engine also did not change: in the US, the Maxima can be bought with the aspirated V6 3.5 with a power of 304 hp and CVT. Four-wheel drive of the sedan did not appear, but for the same Altima version 4WD is provided.
The updated Maxima will get to American dealers in December of this year, prices have not yet been announced. The previous sedan costs from $ 33,420 (excluding taxes and delivery). For comparison, all-wheel drive Altima costs from 25 100 dollars
