New Nissan Kicks on the Duster platform showed on the first imagesSeptember 10, 2018
The Japanese brand, which is part of the alliance with French automaker Renault launches a new teaser campaign. The goal of the new advertisement is the future crossover Kicks, built on the platform from Duster.
Soon, a new version of Nissan Kicks crossover will be on the market. Despite the fact that the model itself was introduced back in 2016, and is now being actively implemented in the markets of Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, the USA, Canada and China, the novelty will be very different technically and will be targeted at other markets.
The global version of the crossover is built on the platform V, developed by the joint efforts of the alliance Renault-Nissan (it also underlies, for example, the current Nissan Note and Pulsar). The future novelty will completely move to the upgraded B0 platform, which is the basis for the entire Logan family, including the compact Duster crossover.
Back in August, we could examine the test prototype of the crossover, but we could not find out the details. The test prototype passed road tests under dense camouflage. Now the company has published the first sketches demonstrating the exterior of the Nissan Kicks 2019 model year.
While the company is not ready to share all the details of the design, and presented the images with a common crossover style, which is not much different from the global version. Perhaps the drawing of the front and rear optics will change, the bumper will be reworked a little, and it will be possible to install a different grille, which we observed on the prototype.
First of all, the novelty will be designed for the developing Indian market, where it is required to minimize the cost of models. Therefore, a more accessible platform was used. Dimensions of the global Nissan Kicks: length – 4,295 mm, width – 1,760 mm, height – 1,590 mm, wheelbase – 2,620 mm, but the Indian version may be slightly longer.
Under the hood of the “budget” Kicks will install a motor line from the local versions of the Renault Duster / Captur. Thus, the car will receive a half-liter petrol and diesel engines with a maximum capacity of up to 106 and 110 horsepower. Couple with them will be offered a manual transmission, or a simple automatic transmission. Whether the model will be equipped with an all-wheel drive is still unknown.
