The network posted photos of a completely new model of the Chinese brand without any camouflage. The car will be available with a seven-seater cabin.

Spy shots of the model, which is still known under the factory VF12 index, were published last fall. Then the paparazzi caught the car plastered with masking film. Chinese media outlets dubbed that test sample a minivan. And the code designation indicates the belonging to the MPV segment – Jiaji van, already available in the China, was previously called VF11. Recently, a photo of VF12 without camouflage was laid out in the base of the Ministry of Industry of China, and local media immediately changed their position – now they consider the new Geely a crossover.

It is not yet known on which platform the model is based — on the company’s own-developed platform, or it is based on one of the platforms created by Geely and Volvo (CMA or BMA) belonging to her. The length of the VF12 is 4835 mm, the wheelbase is 2815 mm. For comparison, the Geely Boyue SUV, these figures are 4519 and 2670 mm, respectively, and the Jiaji minivan – 4706 and 2805 mm. By the way, VF12 is similar in size to the Toyota Highlander of the previous generation (4890/2760 mm), so the chinese media outlets recorded the “Japanese” as rivals to the Geely model.

The VF12 has a seven-seater cabin, the list of equipment includes matrix headlights, 18-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control, and a panoramic sunroof.

According to preliminary data, the new product will be offered with petrol turbo-three 1.5 and “turbo-four” 1.8 with a capacity of 177 and 184 hp. respectively. The first engine was developed again together with Volvo, the same is equipped, for example, Volvo XC40 and Geely Binue. The Binue motor works in tandem with a seven-speed robotic box with double clutch. The 1.8T engine is already the brainchild of Geely, it is also in the Boyue / Atlas range, it is combined with a six-speed automatic gearbox (Boyue still has a 163-horsepower version 1.8 with a 6-speed manual transmission). It is not excluded that the VF12 will also have hybrid versions, but whether the novelty has all-wheel drive is unknown.

It is expected that the Chinese market Geely VF12 will be released before the end of this year. Meanwhile, in 2019 Geely should introduce another new crossover – the SX12, which almost completely repeats last year’s Icon concept. This SUV is built on a BMA platform.
