New Mini John Cooper Works GP debuts at Los Angeles Auto ShowNovember 20, 2019
The public premiere of the fastest and most powerful serial Mini will be organized today. The novelty will be released in a limited edition.
Mini brought to Los Angeles the fastest model in its history, certified for public roads. This is John Cooper Works GP, capable of 302 hp. In total, the brand is going to release 3,000 of these “charged” cars, 575 of which will be sold in the UK at a price of between 33,895 pounds. The first deliveries are scheduled for March 2020. The novelty has a bright and more aggressive design in the spirit of the GP concept, shown back in 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
She gets spectacular wheel arch extensions, “grown up” to 18 inches of wheels, a massive roof spoiler, etc. The Mini John Cooper Works GP suspension had to be strengthened, which slightly lowered the car and widened the track. All cars from the limited edition will receive the same color: the body in the color “Racing Gray”, a silver roof and red accents. Not without the GP logos.
Almost all of the chrome trim, including the MINI logos, was replaced with a “gloss black”.
Two sports seats are located in the passenger compartment, but there is no rear sofa. Thus, the manufacturer reduced all cars. The Nappa leather-wrapped sports steering wheel has a metal mark at 12 o’clock. For the performance of the GP meets the modified four-cylinder two-liter turbo engine, which is placed on the MINI Clubman JCW. Its return reaches 302 hp, and a pair of it is 8AKPP.
Compared with the standard version of the JCW, the performance here has increased by 74 hp. Such an extreme hatchback gains the first “hundred” in just 5.2 seconds. This is 0.3 seconds slower than the all-wheel drive Clubman JCW.
