New Mercedes S-Class is almost ready for presentationAugust 20, 2019
On the Nurburgring race track, several prototypes of the new version of the flagship Mercedes S-Class sedan were discovered, one of which is more interesting than the other. The production version of the machine will be shown in 2020.
Sedans are becoming more difficult, because now crossovers and SUVs are becoming more and more popular. Nevertheless, the German brand Mercedes-Benz is not even going to abandon this type of body, which was ten years ago traditional. If you think about it, the prestigious automaker is doing exactly the opposite, since the A-class sedan was recently introduced.
In general, despite all the current trends, or even in spite of them, the full-size S-Class sedan remains the company’s demanded car. The luxury model appeared in the early 1950s, and only in 1972, the designation S-Class appeared.
Mercedes is currently in the final stages of testing a completely new generation of its flagship model, which is known under the in-plant index W223. The official presentation is scheduled for 2020.
Of the two prototypes that were found on the Nurburgring race track, we want to draw your attention to the one with the license plate ending in “266”, because it already has serial taillights. It seems that the vehicle has the final version of the body, which is still covered with camouflage – an additional layer of masking is on the door handles – apparently the new S-Class will receive retractable handles.
By the way, a fully electric version of the German flagship will be presented in the future. A completely new generation of sedan will be built at its modern factory in Sindelfingen, Germany.
