Mercedes-Benz introduced the diesel modification of the new generation G-Class SUV. The model received an engine with an OM 656 index, which is already being installed, for example, on the flagship S-Class, CLS and GLE.
The new 2.9-liter six-cylinder engine develops 286 liters. with. and 600 N · m of torque, which is available in the range from 1,200 to 3,200 revolutions per minute. The power unit is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and a system of permanent all-wheel drive. The car is able to accelerate from the spot to the 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, and its maximum speed is 200 km per hour.
Prices for the new product have not yet been announced, however, as expected, it will be cheaper than the petrol version of the G-Class.
The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class was introduced in January 2018 at the Detroit Auto Show, and its mass production started in the middle of May at Magna Steyr in Austria. At the initial stage, the SUV was available with a single four-liter twin-turbo unit V8, developing 422 liters. with. and 610 Nm of torque.
