New Mercedes-Benz CLA turned into a shooting brakeMarch 5, 2019
Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new modification of the CLA model of the second generation, called the Shooting Brake. The public premiere of the five-door car, which received a number of technologies from the flagship S-Class, was held at the Geneva Motor Show.
The new Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake is built on an upgraded MFA platform that was used on the eponymous predecessor. The chassis has become more durable, but it has reduced the level of noise and vibration in the car.
The length of the new station wagon was 4688 mm, which is 48 mm longer than the first generation CLA Shooting Brake. Width and height decreased by 33 and 2 mm – to 1999 and 1442 mm, respectively. The size of the wheelbase has increased by 30 mm – up to 2729 mm, and the volume of the luggage compartment has increased by 10 liters – up to 505 liters.
The new Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake received information and entertainment complex MBUX with voice command recognition. The list of available equipment includes semi-automatic control systems that debuted on the flagship S-Class model.
Thus, an improved system of cameras and radar can track traffic situations at a distance of up to 500 meters. For example, electronics will be able to independently adjust the speed of movement as it arrives at difficult interchanges, intersections or traffic jams.
At the time of the start of sales, the new Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake will be offered with a single two-liter turbocharged “four” with a capacity of 225 hp, paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches and an all-wheel drive system. In the future, the line will replenish other gasoline and diesel units.
