At the motor show in Los Angeles premiere of the fourth-generation hatchback and Mazda3 sedan. New items will be available with all-wheel drive and the innovative family of petrol engines SkyActive-X.

The design of the new Mazda 3 was made in accordance with the new development of the corporate stylistic direction of KODO. In addition, in the exterior of the car used a number of decisions borrowed from the concept car Kai, presented in the fall of 2017 at the Tokyo Motor Show. A new steering wheel, an elongated center armrest, and an 8.8-inch display of the infotainment complex, enclosed in a separate unit, appeared in the cabin.

Mazda3 will be offered with the new two-liter petrol engine of the SkyActive-X family. In such a motor, the fuel-air mixture can ignite in the cylinder during compression, as it does in diesel power units. At the same time, traditional spark plugs will still be used in SkyActive-X engines, which will be used at high loads.

The engine will work according to the mild-hybrid scheme – together with a compact electric motor powered from a 24-volt on-board electrical network. The company notes that thanks to this technology, fuel savings will increase by about 20-30% compared with similar units of the same capacity.

In addition, the line of engines of the new Mazda3 will include the previous engines of the SkyActive-G family with a displacement of 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 liters. In addition, cars will be available with a 1.8-liter diesel unit. The transmissions are six-speed manual or automatic transmission of a similar range.

A sedan and hatchback will have a version with four drive wheels based on an upgraded i-Activ system and a thrust distribution function between the front and rear axles.

The list of available electronic assistants will include adaptive cruise control, a warning function for vehicles moving in the transverse direction, as well as a system for tracking driver fatigue.
