New Lexus LS presented in the USANovember 11, 2020
The Japanese sedan is characterized by increased comfort.
Lexus unveiled the refreshed LS in early July, but only now is Toyota’s luxury division releasing details and images of the American model. Naturally, it received the same set of changes as the global variant, namely suspension tweaks and interior improvements for more comfort. In addition, the 12.3-inch infotainment system is finally a touchscreen variety.
Going deeper, the new LS features a redesigned suspension with revised spring and damping parameters, as well as further optimized front and rear anti-roll bars. To ensure a smooth ride, Lexus has fitted larger fluid-filled hubs in both the front and rear. In addition, the height-adjustable air suspension now makes getting in and out of the vehicle easier.
The interior has undergone several changes. Lexus has given special attention to the front seats, which are now even more comfortable. The infotainment system is now complemented by a touchscreen, which means. Also noteworthy are the new interior materials and the optional Palomino Leather upholstery.
The new Lexus LS features a slightly redesigned front bumper with square lower air intakes and a dark metallic grille trim. The adaptive high-beam headlights, first introduced on the RX SUV, are now available for the premium sedan, while the chrome rear fascia is now black. Finally, a new Iridium shade has been added to the color palette, and the F Sport version gets its own minor visual tweaks.
The engine range includes a 3.5-liter V6 with twin turbocharging and a 3.5-liter V6 naturally aspirated. The electrified LS employs a different “battery strategy” to provide more power during acceleration.
The LS 500 will hit dealerships in late November starting at $ 76,000 in a rear-wheel-drive version, while the LS 500h is due to go on sale in early 2021 with prices to be announced closer to launch.
