New Jaguar I-Pace revealedMarch 1, 2018
The electric car of the British brand will reach our market this year.
Commodity crossover Jaguar I-Pace almost completely retained the design of the eponymous concept, which debuted in 2016. The serial model is built on an original aluminum platform. Front – a double-link suspension, rear – multi-lever Integral Link, for a surcharge will offer pneumatic springs.
The crossover length is 4 682 mm, which is only 64 mm smaller than that of the F-Pace. The size of the wheelbase of the electric car is 2,990 mm – this, on the contrary, is 116 mm larger than that of the flagship SUV of the brand. The capacity of the luggage compartment I-Pace – 656 liters, with the backs of the rear seats folded up, this index increases to 1,453 liters. Plus, an additional 27 liters of usable space is still under the hood.
The coefficient of drag is 0.29. The crossover has received special active ventilation flaps in the radiator grille, which open when the battery needs to be cooled, or closed when cooling is not required (to redistribute the airflow and reduce the resistance).
The front and rear axles of the I-Pace are driven by two synchronized electric motors (Jaguar’s own development). Drive shafts run directly through the motors, each motor is combined with a single-stage planetary transmission and differential. A flat lithium-ion battery with capacity of 90 kW * h is located under the floor. The cumulative output of the electric cycle is 400 hp, the total torque is 696 Nm. The first “hundred” car dials in 4.8 seconds, the maximum speed is 200 km / h.
The stock of the novelty is about 480 kilometers (according to the WLTP cycle). With the help of the device for accelerated charging, the crossover can be “refilled” by 80% in just 40 minutes. From the household electricity network to a full “gas station” will take approximately 13 hours.
In the I-Pace arsenal, there is a battery pre-conditioning system: when connected to a network, the machine will automatically increase or decrease the temperature of the battery in order to maximize mileage. Also for the model there is a multimedia system Touch Pro Duo, a digital “fitting”, a laser projection screen, a panoramic roof. In addition, I-Pace uses Smart Settings technology: the computer remembers, and then recognizes the individual preferences of the driver. So, with the help of a keyring or Bluetooth crossover will receive a signal about the approach of the owner and he himself will adjust the climate control, multimedia system and the position of the chair.
Production of I-Pace is arranged at Magna Steyr plant in Austrian Graz. In Europe, sales of new items will start before the end of this year. For example, in Germany an electric car will cost from 77 850 euros. Competitor at the cross, in fact, while one – Tesla Model X (power reserve – about 565 km). Later on the global market should be the electric cyclone Mercedes EQ and Audi e-tron.
