Cupra introduces a more affordable option for the Leon high-performance hatchback line.
Orders for the newest high-performance hatchback Cupra are now open. The Leon received a new model with a capacity of 245 hp. Available in two trim levels, the new addition to the Leon range offers a cheaper alternative to the e-hybrid.
For those who don’t know yet, the Cupra brand emerged in 2018 as a performance sub-brand of the Spanish automaker SEAT, owned by the VW Group. The brand is inspired by SEAT’s many years of experience in rallying and car racing.
The Spanish hatchback will receive a new power output of 245 hp. from the 2.0-liter TSI DSG-auto engine from VW. This engine will make it a more affordable option.
The new Leon engine generates up to 370 Nm of torque, accelerating the hot hatchback from standstill to 100 km / h in 6.4 seconds and reaching a top speed of 250 km / h. Cupra will offer the Leon in VZ1 and VZ2 trim levels.
The VZ1 version comes with 18-inch black and silver alloys and black brake calipers, aggressive sport bumpers, a rear diffuser and oval 4-point tailpipes. Inside the cockpit, the improved interior will feature unique chrome and copper details, including a flat-bottomed perforated leather steering wheel combined with gearshift panels and a set of sports bucket seats.
The improved Leon has received a wide range of technologies from the developers: a 10-inch display infotainment system with navigation and full smartphone integration compatible with Mirror Link, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with four USB-C ports for charging. There are illuminated door sills, ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, a rearview camera, and cruise control.
The more expensive VZ2 will get 19-inch treated black and silver wheel rims and “dynamic chassis control” for improved ride and driving dynamics.
Also today it became known that Cupra will release the D28 Formentor motorboat in the style of the Formentor VZ5 crossover.
